Once upon a time, I had a website. It was at www.joelcreese.com (a URL that’s remarkably similar to this one). I posted all of my clips, my resume, and some writing there. It wasn’t exactly beautiful, but I liked it.
Then I stopped going there, and I stopped using the site. It was comforting that the site existed, but it lay fallow. Once full of life, it was a withered stalk in a frozen field.
Then it died. I won’t blame bluehost, the site that owns the server (or whatever). But suddenly, all of my content was simply gone. Worse, not only that, but when I called to try to rectify the problem, they had someone else’s credit card info (?) and someone else’s email address (??), so I couldn’t even get to my dashboard (Wordpress nerd talk alert!).
Finally, after a three-hour chat with someone from Bluehost’s support, the problem has been fixed. All of the content that was here is gone, but at least the shell is here. The seed is here. And lo, it shall grow.
